Matt is a member of United States Figure Skating & the Professional Skaters Association. He is a double gold medalist in Freestyle and Moves in the Field and holds a Master Rating in Free Skate from the Professional Skaters Association. Matt was a 3 time national medalist and 2001 United States National Novice Men's Champion. He represented the United States internationally at the Junior and Senior levels and has competed in Finland, Italy, Slovenia, Canada and the US. Matt has over 20 years of coaching experience teaching skaters of all levels ranging from beginners to international competitors. Matt currently a member of the Coaches Council for US Figure Skating and is a staff coach at The Skating Club of Boston in Norwood, MA

 

Matt has served on the Coaches, Competitions and Officials Education Committees for US Figure Skating and formerly as a member of the Board of Directors at Colonial Figure Skating Club. Matt has presented educational seminars for the Professional Skaters Association and US Figure Skating and hosted the 2022 & 2023 PSA Summits. Matt has also presented online classes for SHARP4sports.com and The Toronto Cricket Club.

Over the 2020 lockdown, Matt created a viral skating competition called the Staycation Challenge. In this time Matt provided free skating related classes, games and contests over the 10 week shut down attracting almost 200 unique skaters and over 6,000 views online. Matt conducted free interviews and question and answer sessions with skating stars such as Scott Hamilton, Katelyn Osmond, Sandra Bezic, Bradie Tennell, Jason Brown and Broadway star Derrick Davis. 

 

For three years, Matt served as the Artistic Director for Ice Chips: Show of Champions. In this time Matt oversaw the largest and longest running skating show in American history. Shows featured skaters like Javier Fernandez, Gracie Gold, Mirai Nagasu, Jason Brown and for the first time in Ice Chips history, a live vocalist Jelani Remi who currently stars as "Simba" in Broadway's The Lion King.
